| I agree this is a very quiet unit on the low settings. Even the high isn't bad. Very easy to fill, love that and really puts out alot of moisture into the air. Best price for sure on Amazon and I too researched until I was almost sick and the reviews on many other sites say this is the one to get. Glad I did. We really like it. |

| My husband and I did a LOT of research before finally settling on buying this humidifier. We read reviews, looked at descriptions and all that jazz. Although there were a couple negative reviews for this product we decided to purchase it anyway because of the great value, and we made an excellent choice. The filters are cheap, it's quiet, and it does a great job. We live in Utah and the climate here it extremely dry. We have both been sleeping loads better and we don't wake up with dry throats and cracked lips anymore. I say do your research and find the best deal for the price. This was ours. |

| This is a great little humidifier. The controls are simple and intuitive. I love that the water tray is dishwasher safe so I can easily clean and sanitize it. Yes, you have to replace the filters - just like any evaporative humidifier - but they are inexpensive and easy to replace (amazon has them for $9.99). The capacity or the water tank is just right - small enough to fill easily, but large enough that you don't have to constantly refill it. We bought this intending to use it in the baby's room, but ended up using it in our room to replace a much more expensive "ultrasonic" humidifier that was impossible to clean and much less effective. I plan on buying another one for my son's room. |

I use this for my toddler when he is sick thru out the winter months, or when I have sinus headaches. I would say on avg. 4-5 days out of each month we pull it out and leave it running thru out the night and nap times.
Yes, the filter turns brown after a few days of sitting in water and it will cost you $10 to buy a new one. No you do not need to do this once a month unless you are running this thing all day and night, and if you are, I would suggest the user purchases one of those Ionic Sticks that keep it clean, and those only need replacing once a yr and are cheap. Or, you can do like me and easily clean the filter with diluted vinigar to extend its life, something I'm not sure if all of the reviewers know about. I buy a new filter once or twice a yr and I am fairly paranoid about mold! Twice a yr is def sufficient for the use we get out of it, and putting $20/yr into a 5 star humidifier is worth it for me. The instructions say to rinse the tank every 24 hours, I probably do it every 2 or 3 days instead, but it always seems fine. I either pop it in the dishwasher or drop a Tablespoon of bleach in there and rinse it out with a rag and water-- never takes me more than 3 min.
It has never leaked onto the carpet which was my big concern when I purchased it b/c the tank is so huge!
Most humidifiers need regular maintenance b/c of the possibility of mold. This tank is great quality, holds an awful lot of water, and gives a quiet little purr that puts our family to sleep. Love it! |

This humidifier was exactly what we were looking for our daughters' bedroom. We love two main things: It's really silent (not like the other "cheap" one that we had) and the digital humidity level display. The water tank is also very easy to refill.
We've researched several websites and Amazon had the best total price.
We are thinking of buying a second one!!!

I just retired 2 of my Hunter Humidifiers and purchased 2 of these, one for my room and three weeks later I bought one for my Daughters room.
The trick to any Humidifier is to use Soft Water if you have it and a water treatment solution which can be purchased at any hardware store.
This Graco is very easy to clean and Quite running on the first setting.
I usually fill it up every other day with water.
Better than a perma wick humidifier, you don't have to worry about mineral deposits forming on and around the air intakes of the machine or a water pump that may ingest some foreign debris from the filter.
No hassle easy maintenance. |

I bought this as a replacement for a very similar unit several months ago. I was a little leery of purchasing this humidifier based on the experiences of others who complained of a foul odor after about two weeks of use. I have had my humidifier in constant use for the last 8 weeks and I have had no problem with odor from the unit. I have been using Holmes Humidifier Bacteriostat each time that I fill the tank. I use this with each of the three humidifiers in the house and I have never had a problem with odor in any of them (two with filters and one without).
Overall, this is a fine unit that has worked very well to humidy the house. It has several setting from a quiet mode to a very high humidity yield mode. We have found that we are much more comfortable in the morning when the humidiers are running -- no more waking up with winter morning nose (irritation and congestion in the nose and sinuses resulting from dry air).

My husband and I ordered this prior to our baby coming and so far it has been great! Our apartment is relatively humid anyway (we live in WA state), but this humidifier keeps it at just the right levels. It is super quiet on the lowest setting and just makes nice white noise on the higher settings. Since it is 4 gallons we don't have to fill it too often and I love the large, easy to read numbers on the display. We have had NO problems with leaking.
This humidifier might not be for everyone but it is definitely worth considering when in the market for one. |

Graco true air 4 gallons humidifier is definately a good product. I have never owned any humidifiers before but reading other reviews I decided to get this one and I am satisfied.
Humidifer has 3 operation speeds: ultra quiet, medium and high. Humidity level goes up the fastest while operating at the highest level but it is also very loud. What I found useful for myself and my wife is turning humidifier at the high level until it reaches 40% and lowering to ultra quiet position. This way we do not hear it so bad while sleeping. We only use this humidifier at night while we and our baby sleeps.
Usually we have to refill it every other day with water so there is no problem with it.
overall it is very nice unit for one medium size room. it reaches 40% humidity (from about 25%) within several minutes at the highest level.

Before it arrived , his parents had been using a pot of hot water on the stove to create humidity in a dry electrically -heated bedroom. This product is not only very safe but effective. Within an hour the baby was breathing
comfortably and everyone was much relieved. The product also shows how much water is still available, and has differet speeds. Thanks Graco! |

I've had this humidifier for about a month now and recently just purchased another for a different room in my house because I like it so much. I keep it on the lowest setting (quiet mist) and it's able to maintain the humidity I set in a very large room without having to work all the time. It is relatively quiet, too, and unlike other cool mist humidifiers that I've owned, this one doesn't actually provide the mist, but it IS cool and it IS humidifying the room. This means a less likelihood of mold buildup from having the mist directly on the surfaces, and I don't have to worry about it watering the carpet or the table.
I haven't changed the filter on it yet, and having a filter MAY be the only downside to this humidifier. While it's great and does filter the air as it humidifies (no more flying pet dander in my room!), it may cost more in the end than I originally wanted to spend. Still, for the great humidity it provides, it's worth it! |

| I bought this as a replacement for the Hamilton Beach model which I have had for years. I learned the trick to keeping it from getting smelly....let the tank run out of water but keep the machine running. It dries out the filter. The filter gets smelly when it remains constantly wet. Since we work during the day, this isn't a problem. I fill the tank half-full at bedtime and then ignore it. By 10AM the next morning, the tank will be empty and the fan will blow dry the filter until I fill the tank again, the next evening. Seems to work. |

We bought one of these six years ago when they were Hamilton Beach 05521. It just failed due to a humidity sensor malfunction. I'd say I got my money's worth! After another thorough search to see if there is something better -- well-- I ordered 2 more from Amazon. We live in the Colorado Mountains; and let me tell you, our unit got a workout every winter season. We have very hard water, and I just fill the tank right out of the tap. Yes the filters get crusty after a couple weeks of heavy use and need to be changed. I've never had a problem with odor; but that could be because there is never stagnant water in the pan. This unit easily moves 3-4 gallons per day as claimed in our dry climate.
I've read through the reviews of this unit, and there are some legitimate concerns raised - namely filters and maintenance. Here are a couple tips. Turn the filters over - bottom to top -- weekly and replace often. Don't buy filters from BabyAge. What a rip off operation! They sell filters for less than 8 dollars; but then charge 9 dollars EACH to ship. I'm surprised Amazon deals with them. Search for filters for Hamilton Beach 05521. I just bought 8 filters from [...] for $47.95 delivered! Secondly get a little jar of Vaseline and liberally lube the lid seal and the flow valve frequently. The container will always seal and the flow cutoff will operate properly. The only other maintenance I do is just to clean the unit when I change filters.

I love this humidifier- with the humidistat it only runs when needed. The quiet setting really is quiet- I use this setting when DS is sleeping. It's also very easy to fill. Depending on the humidity, the water can last a few days or even up to a week.
My only complaint- there's no indication when it runs out of water. I just happen to notice it keeps running and the humidity level stays low. Kind of annoying- which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
Besides that one complaint I'm very happy with it and may purchase one for our own bedroom. |

The humidifier is very easy to use and very easy to maintain. It efficiently maintains the humidity level that you set. It is quieter than many humidifiers but still is too loud to run on anything but the lowest setting at nights. Even then we can not keep it in the same room with us at night. Also when the bottom tray needs more water it sounds like someone is pouring water out of a jug.
All things considered I am still very happy with it. |

Have had this humidifier for a full season last year and just broke it out for use this year.
Pros: 1) Quiet setting is really quiet. 2) You can set the humidity level - which is important to us because my husband stores camera equipment and such in the same room as the humidifer. 3) Seems to work efficiently - does the job.
Cons: 1) The filters are way too expensive 2) As others have mentioned, the filters don't seem to last as long as they say, even with cleaning, etc.
However, we did find that using a bacteriostatic solution in the water does seem to inhibit the mold/dead rat smell thing from happening quite so fast. This is the stuff you can buy in the store - usually in a 32 oz bottle - that you can add about a 1/2 oz to the water when you refill. Amazon carries it as well at a reasonable price. It holds down the bacteria growth and, in my experience, lengthened the life of the filter considerably. Last season we went through about 4 - 5 filters over about 5 months but we didn't start using the bacteriostat until about 1/2 way through the season.
Would I buy this one again? Maybe. I'm going to see how the filter consumption goes this year. |

I like it. It succeeded in preventing my large bedroom from getting dry and damaging my skin and sleep this winter! This was the purpose and it served this purpose well.
Over the years I have tried many humidifiers and while this is not the most powerful, but, it is also simple and easy to use and so far works very well. It doesn't leave dampness on the floor and I love the Humidity % rating. I am not sure how sophisticated the humity measurement is, but I do feel it when the % is low and then after awhile when it is less dry in the room.
I think it is good for a medium to large room - maybe up to 300-400 Sq Ft. |

I bought the Graco because my older, larger humidifier (a Bionaire) had stopped working reliably. I have a baby grand piano in my living room and need to keep the humidity higher than that it is normally here in Colorado. Pros: I like the humidistat which seems to be pretty accurate and even on high, the fan is quiet enough not to be a bother. The smaller size means there are more choices for where I can place it in the room.
On the minus side: My house is a tri-level so my living room may be more open than most, however when there is a big difference between the outside humidity and what I've set the Graco to, it takes a while to get the room humidity to the reqested level - even with the fan on high. Also, the Graco must be refilled much more frequently than my Bionaire which had two, much larger water tanks (I think they were 5 gallons each) although I must say the Graco refilling process is a heck of a lot easier.
I'll update later when I've found out about the filter life. All-in-all, I'm happy I bought this product and would recommend it to anyone. |

We live in a very dry climate and have used this to increase the humidity in a two story town home of about 1200 square feet. We've had this product for about 3 months without noticing any defects. It runs constantly and gets filled 2 - 3 times a day to raise the humidity from about 25% to 35% which is adequate for us right now. The tank is very easy to carry and fill - much more so than other humidifiers we've previously owned and the overall size works well in our small home. The fan is a bit noisy on medium or high, but that's to be expected. We turn it off when we are watching TV.
The humidistat works ok if you give up the idea that it accurately measures room humidity and just use it as a rough guide. The humidity will always be higher close to any humidifier so there's not much you can do about it. I purchased a separate meter to measure humidity at various places in the home. I set the Graco for 45% or 50% to get the house around 30- 35%. I'd say it would take two of these units or a much larger one to get a 1200 sq ft home up to 40%. We don't have the room for either.
Here are the cons:
First, the filters can smell pretty bad after a few weeks. I think I read that someone mentioned they smelled like something dead. That fits. Though they seem to have the strongest smell when partially or fully dried out or if you stick your face right over the unit. Most of the time I don't notice it.
Second, I've had to replace the filter after about two months. It was getting crystallized stuff on it. At $10 a pop this can get pretty expensive especially considering that we will have to run it almost all year since we live in a dry climate (Colorado Springs). This means that this product is not a good long term solution for humidifying a home. A bedroom at night perhaps.
Third, and this is a minor issue, there is no shutoff when it runs out of water. It does indicate "LO" on the display, but if it can sense that it's out of water, why not shut off the fan? There's no harm done other than the use of the electricity and the fact that it dries the filter out so it takes time to get it to reabsorb water before it starts adding humidity again (I didn't want to deal with the mess of transporting a wet filter from the sink or moving the humidifier.)
I'm sorry about the people that have had defective units, but so far ours seems sturdy. We will be moving soon and will install a whole house humidifier into the heating system, so this has worked fine as a temporary solution. |

We've owned this for about 6 months and run it either 24-hours or 12-hours a day, depending on what we're doing. Here in Arizona it's pretty dry all the time but keeping it running keeps the whole house in good shape. We have pretty hard water and have to replace the filters about every 3-4 months. I've never had a problem with it leaking or smelling like anything but pure water. People who are having mildew or oder problems probably need to do soemthing to their water, like maybe add a few drops of bleach to the tank when they fill up. It's certainly not the humidifier's fault. I'd buy it again.
UPDATE 12/22/09:
The humidifier stopped working today. Since I'm handy with electronics I took it apart and determined that the fan is what died. It has been running basically non-stop, 24/7 for the last year and a half, on the lowest speed. I'm torn as to weather I'm unhappy about this because we did run it much longer than it was probably designed for, while on the other hand it shouldn't take much to design a fan that could run basically forever. |
Major design flaw but OK after hack
|
| Review Date: February 24, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Luc Busquin, Phoenix, AZ USA |
PROS:
- Large tank capacity
- Efficiently and quickly raise humidity
- Good digital control (after hack
- Does not produce white dust
- good price
CONS:
- Unbelievable design flaw in my unit: the humidity sensor is located INSIDE the unit! Essentially measuring the humidity level above the wick which is obviously always high. Without modification the digital control is totally useless. See workaround below.
- As mentioned in other reviews, the wick that comes with the machine falls apart very quickly (had to replace mine after a week). But it seems the replacement wicks are much better. I don't know if they changed the design but I have had the new wick for several months now and it's in good shape (I use distilled water with about ten drops of unscented bleach per tank)
- Sensor in my unit reads 10% higher than a calibrated hygrometer.
Workaround for sensor flaw:
Option A: Continuously blow air on the sensor with a fan. This ensures the sensor actually senses ambient humidity.
Option B: Remove the sensor from the unit and insert an extension cable. Place the sensor in a less irrational location!

| Bought this humidifier a few weeks back. The primary reason was because we're expecting a baby. I specifically wanted a cool mist humidifier because we will be using this in the baby's room. The reason I chose this particular model was that it claimed that it can be washed in the dishwasher. Let me tell you, you have to design a dish washer around this humidifier to be able to wash it in it. The tray can be washed in the dish washer but not the water tank. It does the basic job of humidifying the room but thats about it. Its not that quiet. I personally dont mind the white noise but if it annoys you, keep it in mind. Also air getting into the tank makes some occasional bubbling noise. The design is poor. you just place the tank on the tray, it doesn't even lock in place. The filter doesn't have a jacket that it can fit in. I haven't used other humidifiers but if your reason for choosing this model is that it can be cleaned in a dish washer or that it is quiet, discount those reasons. will do the job of humidifying the room but you can perhaps get something better for less that does the same. |
Not As Good As I Expected

| Reviewer: Ehsanullah Jan, Karachi, Pakistan |
This is an OK humidifier but has some prominent issues (or so it seems). The built-in humidistat doesn't seem to be a good one. It changes its readings so frequently (within seconds) that you become suspicious of its accuracy. For example, it would read 39% and, for a test drive, you turn it off and back on and the display reads 45%! Repeat it several times and it changes the reading almost every single time. So I am not sure if the built-in humidistat is of good quality and/or working correctly.
The built-in filter was also total crap and went out of shape within the first few days. Luckily I'd ordered a replacement filter with the product itself. The replacement filter is doing fine and is in use for about three weeks now.
Also, the three levels of operation (QuiteMist, MED, and HI) don't appear to do anything except affecting the fan noise-level. You'd expect the humidity of the room to increase slightly faster if you're operating it on HI but that doesn't happen. The humidity-engine seems to be unaffected by the various speeds -- it probably is a fan-noise leveler, not humidity-engine tuner.
Overall I am not as satisfied with the product. If I didn't hate packaging and returning products, I'd have returned this product. But it's working OK anyways though not as good as I expected. As far as recommendation goes, I'd NOT recommend this product. |

I've had the Graco for about two months now. I does humidify the room very well and very quickly.
The tank is big and will last you a while but it's hard to fill in a sink. Most likely you have to use the shower.
On the down side, it does make a lot of noise (even on the quiet mist setting). I do use this produst in the bedroom though. If you are going to use in another room, it should be fine.
Another thing is that after a couple of weeks, it starts smelling like mold (i think it's the filter that gets wet and stays wet) maybe you have to use distilled water.
Overall I would not recommend it for the bedroom. For a large living area should be fine. |

I purchased this product from Babies RUS on promotion with a 20% discount and gift cards. However, to date, I've spent the purchase price on this unit on filters (albeit cheaper at amazon with amex wishlist discount).
PROS:
This unit is quiet (on quietmist setting), does humidify a large space, and has a convenient humidity setting/readout, not to mention a large 4gallon tank. So yes, it does its job as it's supposed to.
CONS:
and this is a big CON job. Have you ever wondered why this 4-gallon humidifier is ~$70 when 1-2 gallon quiet mist tanks are going for around the same price? THIS IS WHY: The filters cost about $10 and you'll know it's time to change it when you smell a dead rat every two weeks - you can't cop out and pretend it's not there b/c whatever that filter does soaking in water, it really puts out some foul smell when it's "time to change". Say you'll need a humidifier to operate for 4 months in the winter (most likely way longer), that's 8 x $10 = $80 just to keep this thing going. Moreover, if you read the description of this item, it recommends you clean it EVERY DAY - sorry dudes, I've got a job, wife and kids, i don't need to add a humidifier to the family feeding and cleaning schedule.
I've "downgraded" to a 1-gallon humidifier that lasts the night in a 400sq foot room - that's ALL you need people. Forget the 4-gallon filter-guzzler. |

| This humidifier puts a lot of humidity into the air, but it just takes too much work to maintain. The unit includes a little pamphlet that suggests flipping the filter every time you fill the tank, and occasionally running the unit until the filter goes totally dry to prevent the filter from becoming smelly. This only delays the inevitable: It will start to smell like something is rotting in your room. I went through two filters in 4 weeks. Also, if you have minerals in your water, the minerals will collect in the filter and cause the water to only go part-way up the filter, so the humidifier becomes inefficient quite quickly. |

| Piece of trash! If you're reading reviews written just after someone bought this thing, ignore them. Sure it's all fine and dandy in the beginning...I have used this humidifier for 2 seasons (total of about 7 months, and have had to replace the cap and gasket 3 times. The new cap they just sent me STILL LEAKS all over the floor, rendering the entire thing useless. I give up! And on top of that, when it DID work, I had to replace the filter every 10 days or so (not every 3 months as they advertise). My friend down the street with the same humidifier has the same problem. After a week or so, it starts turning brown and smelly. And this is despite cleaning the tank and tray nearly every time, and turning the filter each time as recommended. |

| Let me start off by saying that I never write reviews but I felt the need to share my opinion about this product. I researched a lot of humidifiers before purchasing this one, because it sounded perfect for my son's room. Yes, it worked great for maybe 2 weeks but then I had to replace the filter which is supposed to last 3 months! I had the replacement filter for 1 week and I just threw it in the trash because it smelled like something died in the bedroom. I don't know if it is the New York City water or the poor quality of the filter but for every day use it is just not cutting it. Needless to say my husband is on his way to a store to buy something else! |

| This humidifier began sparking and smoking in our babies bedroom after only 9 months of use. We were very lucky to have been in the room when this happened. We have contacted the manufacturer and retailer (both have agreed to allow us to return it). |
SO expensive to run!

| I cleaned the unit every day and filled it with water run through a very good quality countertop filter. Even doing this, I went through two $11 filters per WEEK (TWENTY-FOUR TIMES as many filters as stated by the manufacturer!), and simply couldn't afford to spend nearly $90 a month (just in filters!) to run a humidifier. That is, putting it simply, absolutely insane. Design is faulty -- filtered water shouldn't trash a brand-new filter in less than four days. I don't know anyone who could afford $90 a month for humidifier filters. |

After a month of using it, the humidifier BROKE! Since the humidistat is reading "HI," it won't even turn on!
I do not recommend this product at all. |

After just over month of usage, the humidifier died. Now, the humidistat is reading "HI" everytime it's turned on, which means it won't work until the 'humidity' goes down. My GPS clock is reading that my indoor humidity level is 17% at the moment...
I am going to see what Graco will do to to honor their warranty. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this humidifier for purchase.
And yes, as others have stated, the filter wears out very quickly. You will need to change it every 3-4 weeks. |

| This humidifier did not work. It is supposed to empty in 24 hrs, but after a week, the same amount of water was inside. The humidity in the room stayed at 31% despite being on high 24 hrs a day. Moreover, customer service at graco was less than helpful. I would find a different humidifier. |
Quit working after 2 months

| I'm really disappointed with this humidifier. It stopped working after two months (I turn it on and nothing happens). During the short period of time that it WAS working, it did very little to elevate the humidity in a single small room. Also, the hygrometer that is built into the humidifier is not accurate. It showed a much higher humidity percentage than was shown on a high quality free-standing (properly calibrated) hygrometer that I also kept in the room. It is way too expensive to operate so poorly and last such a short time. I would recommend looking elsewhere. |
